Business Banking Services From The Jackson State Bank & Trust
 


In The Event Your Bank Card Or Checkbook Is Lost Or Stolen.

Your First And Most Important Step:  Call the card issuer immediately so they can block or cancel your card. 

A Jackson State Bank & Trust Debit Card
Call The Jackson State Bank & Trust immediately to report a lost or stolen card.  If you notify the Bank within two (2) business days, you can lose no more than $50.

If you fail to notify the bank within two (2) business days, you may be liable for up to $500.

If you need to report a lost or stolen card after bank hours (8am-5pm MST, Monday-Friday), you can call VISA (number listed below) and they will put a hold on your card. 

Then, call The Jackson State Bank & Trust the next day to file a complete report and order a new card.  One of our customer service representatives will cancel your card immediately and have a new one sent to you within 10 business days.  This will prevent anyone else from accessing your account with your stolen card.

A Jackson State Bank & Trust Checkbook
Call The Jackson State Bank & Trust immediately to report a lost or stolen checkbook.  One of our customer service representatives will close your account immediately.  They will then issue you temporary checks, and order checks for your new account.

Credit Cards From Another Bank
If you don’t know the number of the bank that issued your card, you may call the credit card issuer directly.  Here are some numbers you may find helpful:

If your purse or wallet was stolen, call the police and file a report.  Request a copy of the report because you may need it if identity theft becomes an issue.  If you think you might be a victim of identity theft, click here for more information.

Tips for Prevention
  • Make a list of all the cards in your wallet—but not the account numbers or expiration dates.

  • Record the contact numbers for all your credit/debit card companies as well as your insurance companies.

  • Review your bank and credit card statement carefully to assure yourself that no suspicious items are appearing.

  • Investigate suspicious items immediately and notify your bank right away if you see anything unusual.

  • Periodically review your credit report to check for new accounts which you did not open or to find unusual activity or erroneous listings from existing accounts.

  • Close credit card accounts you don’t use on a regular basis.

  • Only carry one or two cards on a daily basis.

  • And remember…don’t provide personal information like account numbers, online IDs or passwords to anyone via email, phone or web unless you initiated the contact and are absolutely certain with whom you are communicating.

  • Be suspect of every email, website or phone call requesting you to update, authenticate or verify ANY personal information.

  • Always be aware of the ease with which phone emails and websites can be created.
